I believe the biggest limiting factor for current vehicle remote repair modules is not the lock on. The biggest, hindering factor is that the modules have a limited duration. I feel that the remote repair modules should repair indefinitely unless the lock is broke by an obstacle or the target leaves the repair range.
I feel remote repair modules should also have no cool-down.
Right now remote repair feels like a punch in the face to people who want to work as a team and use them. Spider tanking is impossible, or limited to 30 seconds. |

In chromosome, I drove the ultimate logi LAV. It threw away its own survivability in order to be effective at repairing HAVs- it had both an armor rep and a shield rep. However, it was pointless because it had light repair modules- so slow that you could barely tell it was repairing. Just made my LLAV forge gun bait.
Perhaps give Logi Lavs a bonus to remote repair or shield boost amount when using light remote repair or shield boosting modules. Make them like EVE logistics ships.
Also, release variants of the base LAV (saga, methana) that have weaker bonuses but rely on the Cal/gal operation skill much like eve ships. LAV variants: Combat, Attack, EWAR, Support Combat variant is what we have now Attack variant is a faster version with reduced health, but has increased damage Ewar gets bonus to the ewar modules (currently: Active scanners). Support gets bonus to remote repair modules, perhaps even fitting bonuses so it could fit the larger heavy remote repair module.
Then, when you get racial lav level 3, you get to train the specialty skill to get tech II version, the true specialties, Each one is a skill Light Combat Vehicle is a hardened version of the current LAV (Much like the current Logi Lav, but without the infantry repair tool). Skirmisher is a tougher, faster version that hits hard with its racial turrets. Not as tough as the Combat vehicle. Logistics Basically the current logistics we have now, but it has no turret bonuses, and instead gets remote repair fitting/ efficacy bonuses. |

A bonus to module cool-down is all I feel logi-lavs truly need. If they got a 15% per level reduction in remote support module cool-down, they would bring remote repair back into the game. Imo. If this is coupled with a racial fitting reduction for heavy remote repair modules, logi lavs could actually fill their role, and I believe vehicles will then be balanced against AV. |
